We support music makers.
Sheepscot helps two nonprofit programs deliver world-class education and performance opportunities to musicians aged 8-18 across greater Portland. We’ve also filmed at concerts and festivals, photographed musical luminaries, and interviewed countless artists about their craft.
WRITE, RECORD, PERFORM
My Voice Music teaches youth to write, record and perform original songs. Its programs use music to build community and to equip kids with tools for emotional growth and lifelong learning.
To increase enrollment in MVM's summer rock camps, we designed and rolled out a campaign featuring new photos of young students in the studio. That first year, MVM doubled its Rock Camps revenue.
We've produced a video to help MVM open satellite studios statewide, built branded graphic templates to empower staff and volunteers, and more.
FUNDING SUPPORT, DESIGN TOOLS…AND ANNUAL PHOTO SHOOTS
Since 2014, we’ve been helping Metropolitan Youth Symphony attract students and earn funding to keep music education accessible to kids from all backgrounds.
To start, we helped MYS win a pair of grants to professionalize its brand and hire key staff. Ever since, we’ve been pitching in however they need us, producing videos, updating graphic templates, laying out ads, etc. And, in what’s become an annual tradition, every fall we stage a pair of photo shoots with student musicians in iconic Portland locations.
SPACE ODDITY
OK Chorale PDX (now Low Bar Chorale) is a drop-in community chorus here in Portland.
Its first theater production was inspired by David Bowie's passing. Nearly two hundred participants learned their harmonies before gathering at the OMSI Planetarium. Under a starry sky, the room came alive with their voices.
MUSIC IS CULTURE
The Oregon Cultural Trust distributes millions of dollars every year to arts, heritage and humanities nonprofits in Oregon. The Trust’s funding depends on a unique tax credit available to Oregonians.
Our campaign to raise awareness of the tax credit, and to teach Oregonians how to claim it, helped to inspire four consecutive funding records. Front and center in the campaign was a series of original photographs by Holly Andres; subjects included Esperanza Spalding, Tatiana Hargraves, and Portland-based Rock and Roll Camp for Girls.
STACKSTOCK
When a beloved local hospitality company, Martin North, decided to host the Oregon coast's first-ever indie rock festival, they asked Sheepscot to document the occasion.
On a glorious September Saturday, one block from the shore (and Cannon Beach’s famous Haystock Rock), festival headliners included Colin Meloy, Pure Bathing Culture, and Ages and Ages.
